Did you know: “When its HOT in Napa it’s typically NOT down on the Napa River and out in the wetlands.” This is because of the proximity of the lower portion of the Napa River to San Pablo Bay where cool onshore breezes flow under the Golden Gate Bridge, turn towards the north and become fresh, sometimes brisk southerlies on the Napa River. A perfect way to cool off and escape the heat of the Napa Valley which is a totally separate and somewhat protected micro-climate nestled between two mountain ranges. So when you make a booking inquiry I check a number of different things for that day and time including tide, temperature, wind direction and wind speed. Sometimes in summer you may even need a sweater when we are out on the water in the boat. Captain’s tip: check the temperature for American Canyon and Vallejo when you book a trip because that’s closer to where we will be.
